makes 5 dumplings
5 Granny Smith apples
5 large rounds of biscuit dough
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
1 stick butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Peel and cut apples into halves. Core and remove stems.
- Put apple halves face down onto biscuit rounds. Stretch dough around apple halves so they're almost completely covered.
- Melt butter in a sauce pan. Add water and sugar and mix well.
- Put dumplings into a large baking dish. Pour buttered syrup on top.
- Bake in oven until golden brown, about 30-35 minutes. Serve warm.
